How to Control the HDMI Out for 2G Series Decoders

Overview

There are times when installations require a receiver-side pitch black output or a paused still-frame. Commands have been included below for such circumstances. These commands are best applied via telnet (port 23).

Requirements

  • Firmware: Version A6.x.x or later
  • Static Route: See link for more information

CLI Commands

Name CLI Command Description
Disable Video echo 2 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause Outputs a black video signal and mutes audio on the HDMI output.
Freeze Video echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause Continuously outputs a frozen image using the last received video frame.
Restore Video echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause Resumes normal video output. A reboot or power cycle will also restore video.

Examples

Output black video on a Receiver:

echo 2 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause

Freeze the current video frame on a Receiver:

echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause

Restore normal video output:

echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/videoip/pause

Note: Rebooting or power-cycling the device will also restore normal video output.
