KVM Support Overview and Examples

Overview

KVM Support describes the ability for a USB Human Interface Device (HID) like a keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen to connect to a Just Add Power Receiver and send input back to a Just Add Power Transmitter connected to the endpoint controlled device.

Not all models of Transmitter and Receiver have USB ports on them; be sure to get the correct model where KVM Support is needed.

Point-to-Point Setup

In a point-to-point system, the Receiver<->Transmitter USB link activates immediately and provides intuitive control. Connect and go!

Matrixed Setup

The USB between connection between the Receiver and Transmitter DOES NOT link automatically. The USB connection activates when the Receiver powers on, or when a command is sent to activate it.

In a system with multiple KVM Transmitters, the KVM Receiver can only control the device it is watching.

Switching to a different source will move KVM control to the active source.

When watching a source with no USB connection, the peripheral devices will do nothing.

This allows a Just Add Power system with KVM Support to be an Audio/Video Matrixing and a KVM Switching solution at the same time.
