Capture and Submit AMP Logs
Overview
AMP records its interactions with your PC, network switch, and Just Add Power devices. When an error occurs, these logs help Technical Support identify the cause and recommend next steps.
Use this procedure to capture and submit AMP logs for Standardized or Alternate Configuration systems. If an issue prevents you from continuing, contact Technical Support for assistance.
Choose the Log Level
- Normal: The default level. Captures information sufficient for most initial troubleshooting.
- Debug: Captures additional detail. Enable this level when Technical Support requests it.
Debug logging slows AMP operations. Allow additional time for each operation to complete.
If the issue has already occurred with Normal logging enabled, proceed to Save the Logs. If Technical Support requests Debug logs, follow the steps below first.
Capture Debug Logs
-
Open AMP. From the top-left menu, select Help → Set Log Level → Debug.

- Repeat the affected workflow until the error occurs or you reach the point where you cannot continue.
- Capture screenshots of the error message and the AMP window where the issue occurred.
Save the Logs
-
From the top-left menu, select Help → Submit Logs.

-
Save the resulting file somewhere easy to locate, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.

- Confirm that the saved file is available before composing your submission.
Submit Logs saves a file to your PC. Send that file to Technical Support using the instructions below.
Submit to Technical Support
- Compose an email to [email protected] with the subject AMP log submission.
- Attach the saved log file and screenshots of the error message and affected AMP window.
-
Include the following details:
- AMP version.
- Standardized or Alternate Configuration.
- Switch manufacturer and model.
- Just Add Power product series and whether the system uses 2G Legacy Mode.
- The AMP function you were using and what you were trying to accomplish.
- The last window or step reached, what happened, and whether the issue repeats.
- Send the email.
If Technical Support is already assisting you, reply to the existing support email with the log file and screenshots. You do not need to repeat information already provided unless it has changed.
Technical Support will review the submission and respond with next steps.
