Control Decoder HDMI Output (Omega, Ultra, and MaxColor Series)

Overview

Omega Series, Ultra Series, and MaxColor Series Decoders provide controls for changing HDMI output immediately or configuring what happens automatically when video is lost.

Choose the instructions below based on the behavior you need.

Change HDMI Output Immediately

Use CLI commands when an installer or control system needs to:

  • Output a black screen and mute HDMI audio.
  • Freeze the last video frame.
  • Disable or enable the HDMI output.
  • Restore video after muting or freezing it.

These commands execute immediately without saving or rebooting. They do not configure the Decoder's automatic response to video loss.

See CLI Commands — Decoder Video Control for firmware requirements, command values, examples, and instructions to restore normal operation.

Black video and disabled HDMI output are different: Muting video keeps an HDMI signal active while displaying black video and muting HDMI audio. Disabling HDMI output stops the HDMI signal, so the display detects no signal from the Decoder.

Configure Behavior When Video Is Lost

Use startup settings when the Decoder should automatically:

  • Continue HDMI output and show the debug screen after video is lost.
  • Stop HDMI output after video is lost.
  • Wait a specified amount of time before stopping HDMI output.

These settings require saving and rebooting before they take effect. Once saved, they remain active after the device is power cycled.

See Startup Settings — Decoder HDMI Output for the settings and an example that stops HDMI output five seconds after video is lost.
