Overview

GameView provides tablet-based source and display control for hospitality environments. It can integrate with Just Add Power systems configured using AMP Standardized, as well as established JADConfig systems.

This article explains how to prepare the Just Add Power system, DIRECTV receivers, network-controlled equipment, and Decoder endpoint-control settings before completing the configuration in GameView.

GameView Access and Support: GameView licensing, application installation, training materials, and current network requirements are provided by GameView. Visit GameView or contact GameView for dealer access, pricing, and application support.

JADConfig End of Support: JADConfig systems will reach End of Support on January 1, 2027. New Just Add Power systems must be configured using AMP.

See the JADConfig End of Support Notice for requirements and migration-planning information.

Before You Begin

Before configuring GameView:

  • Confirm that the Just Add Power system is fully configured and source switching has been tested.
  • Obtain the required GameView dealer access, license, and current integration documentation.
  • Confirm that the GameView tablet and all network-controlled equipment can communicate over the Data Network.
  • Assign a static or reserved IP address to each DIRECTV receiver and other device that GameView will control over the network.
  • Collect the IP addresses, Encoder and Decoder numbers, source names, display names, and other system information required by GameView.
  • If GameView will control displays using RS232 or IR, obtain the appropriate command sets and cabling for each display.

Configure the Just Add Power System

New Just Add Power systems intended for GameView integration should be configured using AMP Standardized.

  1. Use AMP to configure the supported network switch, Encoders, and Decoders.
  2. Confirm that every source can be switched to its intended displays.
  3. Confirm that the Data Network can reach the equipment that GameView must control.
  4. Record the system information required when adding the Just Add Power system to GameView.

Established systems configured using JADConfig may continue to integrate with GameView until the system is migrated to AMP.

Prepare the GameView Network

Complete the current GameView network requirements before configuring the application. At minimum:

  • Assign static or reserved IP addresses to DIRECTV receivers and other equipment controlled by GameView.
  • Confirm that all third-party equipment has been configured and tested according to its manufacturer instructions.
  • Confirm that the wireless or wired network used by the GameView tablet is stable and secured.
  • Confirm that the network permits the discovery and control traffic required by GameView.
  • Confirm that internet access is available for GameView licensing, updates, and guide services.

Current Requirements: Network ports, supported tablets, operating-system requirements, and application settings may change. Refer to the current documentation supplied by GameView before modifying the network.

Configure DIRECTV Receivers

Compatible DIRECTV receivers must be accessible over the network before GameView can control them. Menu names may vary by receiver model and software version.

  1. Open the receiver settings and navigate to Network Setup or Advanced Setup.
  2. Assign the receiver a unique static or reserved IP address.
  3. Complete the receiver network connection test.
  4. Navigate to Whole-Home > External Devices.
  5. Set External Access to Allow.
  6. Confirm that GameView can discover and control the receiver.

Legacy DIRECTV H25 Installations

DIRECTV H25 receivers use external DECA hardware for network connectivity. Use the diagram appropriate for the installed DIRECTV distribution equipment:

Legacy Documentation: These diagrams were supplied by GameView and may reference legacy product names, part numbers, and receiver menus. Verify current equipment and configuration requirements with GameView and DIRECTV.

Configure Display Control

GameView can use the RS232 or IR connections on a Just Add Power Decoder to control its connected display. Configure each Decoder used for endpoint control with the following settings:

Control Method Serial Mode Baudrate
RS232 API (CLI Access) Match the requirements of the connected display.
IRv1 API (CLI Access) 9600
IRv2 API (CLI Access) 115200
  1. Access the Decoder webUI.
  2. Set Serial Mode to API (CLI Access).
  3. Set the required Baudrate.
  4. Save the settings and reboot the Decoder if prompted.
  5. Test display power and other endpoint commands from GameView.

Complete and Test the Integration

Follow the current GameView integration documentation to enter the Just Add Power system information and complete the application configuration.

Before delivering the system, verify:

  • Every source can be selected from GameView.
  • Each source switches to the correct display or display group.
  • DIRECTV receivers respond to channel and transport commands.
  • Display power, volume, and other configured RS232 or IR commands operate correctly.
  • Source and display names in GameView match the installed system.
  • The GameView tablet remains connected and responsive throughout the venue.

Support Responsibilities: Just Add Power Support can help verify Just Add Power hardware, network access, source switching, and device API responses. GameView provides support for its application, licensing, interface configuration, and third-party receiver integration.
