2G Legacy Mode Firmware Release History

Overview

Review current and previous L Series and A Series firmware records. Releases are grouped by firmware family, with the newest records first.

For current L Series firmware used with AMP, see Download 2G Legacy Mode Firmware. For an established system remaining on A Series firmware, use the A6.5.9-LTS.v3 download and release notes below.

Public downloads are listed for L1.1.9.0, L1.1.9.1, and temporarily A6.5.9-LTS.v3. A6.5.9-LTS.v3 will be delisted on January 1, 2027. Older release notes remain available.

Firmware Release Index

Date types: The older firmware tables preserve the firmware-date values recorded for those releases, including multiple dates and suffixes. These values are not automatically public release dates. The L Series diagnostic date is also separate from its public release date.

L Series Firmware Releases

L1.1.9.1

Release date: 2026-11-04.

  • JPSW: jpsw 1.9.1 Corrects matrix switching control failures with certain TP-Link switches running newer switch firmware.

L1.1.9.0

First L Series release for AMP 2G Legacy Mode. Requires AMP 2.0.0 or later and Standardized Configuration.

Release date: 2026-10-06.

Added

  • JPSW switching: Devices respond to jpsw commands for switching and configuration through AMP.
  • Automatic operating settings: On compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices changing from Bx.y.z firmware to L Series firmware, the required 2G Legacy Mode settings are applied automatically. A separate sequence of astparam commands is no longer required.

Changed

  • The diagnostic background displays the Just Add Power logo on one line, without the plug icon.
  • The diagnostic firmware date changes to 26-Aug-21.

Custom background replacement: Applying L1.1.9.0 overwrites any custom diagnostic background with the Just Add Power background.

Release Scope

  • EDIDs are unchanged by this release.
  • The webUI retains its existing appearance and functionality, apart from the displayed firmware version.
  • Existing diagnostic text in the bottom-left and bottom-right corners remains, apart from the firmware date changing to 26-Aug-21.

Historical Hybrid A Series Firmware

Hybrid A Series releases were used on 2G Series-only systems and systems combining 2G Series devices with compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices. Model support varies by release; the A Series history is not a compatibility list for every Ultra Series device.

Historical backward compatibility with Omega Series and compatible Ultra Series hardware begins at A6.4.12. The earlier A6.4.1 entry is retained as a firmware-date record.

A6.5.9-LTS.v3

Release date: 2020-11-24.

Established A Series systems only: Use this package when maintaining a system that is remaining on A Series firmware. A6.5.9 variants are compatible with each other but are not compatible with A Series releases earlier than A6.5.9. Check firmware compatibility and file matching and the A Series update instructions before applying firmware.

  • Support for the ST1 Sound Transceiver. Its Encoder or Decoder operating mode depends on the hardware jumper position. Changing operating mode requires a reboot.

Fixed

  • Compatible devices default to historical 2G Mode without manually executing 2gmode.sh.

A6.5.9-LTS.BF2

Release date: 2020-05-19.

Fixed

  • Corrects CEC operation on 2G Series devices.

A6.5.9-LTS.BF1

Release date: 2020-02-28.

Fixed

  • Prevents video freezing after a cable or satellite source outputs a bad video frame during a resolution change.
  • Prevents black video when a satellite source changes resolution in Native Mode.
  • Corrects dull BT2020 color-space reproduction.
  • Enables the OM-715POE HDMI loopout by default.
  • Corrects a startup race condition that caused mDNS to announce devices as HTTP on none and prevented discovery.
  • Updates scripts for POSIX sh compliance, allowing historical A Series updates directly from firmware earlier than A6.4.12.
  • Delays the getmodel.sh filesystem cache record until 60 seconds of uptime so SCU checks can finish.
  • Corrects a startup issue that prevented SwitchPlease from loading.

Known Issues

Some cable and satellite sources can cause audio loss on UL-718AVP and UL-749AVP Encoders.

  • The historical workaround is to disable the microphone and line inputs.
  • To restore audio when the issue occurs, power-cycle the affected Encoder or execute dd_reset.sh through Telnet.

Service interruption: Power-cycling interrupts that Encoder. Plan the test when the affected source can be interrupted.

Historical 2G-Only A Series Firmware

These releases run only on 2G Series hardware. The final release in this 2G-only family is A5.31 FC+4+. Later hybrid A Series releases and L Series firmware are documented separately above.
