Understand 2G Legacy Mode Firmware Compatibility
Choose Firmware for Your Task
Use this reference to choose the firmware workflow, check version compatibility, and select a file for a historical A Series manual update.
| Your Task | What to Check |
|---|---|
| Configure or service AMP 2G Legacy Mode | Use L Series firmware through AMP 2.0.0 or later in Standardized Configuration. Check device and switch compatibility. |
| Maintain an established A Series system | Identify the existing version, check hardware support, and follow the A Series maintenance procedure. |
| Add or replace a device | Match the destination system's firmware workflow and supported hardware. Do not choose a file by the device model alone. |
For the current L Series package, use Download 2G Legacy Mode Firmware. For established A Series downloads and previous releases, use 2G Legacy Mode Firmware Release History.
Check Firmware Compatibility
L Series for AMP
L Series firmware provides the JPSW switching and configuration support used by AMP 2G Legacy Mode. All L1.x.y.z releases are video-compatible with one another; JPSW features and fixes may differ.
AMP 2G Legacy Mode is supported only in Standardized Configuration and does not support Ruckus switches. See Supported Switches for AMP Standardized Systems.
On compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices, L Series firmware applies the required operating state automatically. It is not a separate webUI toggle. Check the supported hardware and operating limits before changing a device's role.
Plan a system transition: Moving an established A Series system to AMP 2G Legacy Mode requires the appropriate system configuration workflow. Applying a different firmware file to one device does not complete the transition.
Established A Series Systems
Use matching A Series versions across the system unless the release documentation identifies compatibility. The A6.5.9 variants are compatible with each other and are not compatible with A Series releases earlier than A6.5.9.
A6.5.9 places compatible devices into historical 2G Mode by default. This A Series workflow is separate from AMP 2G Legacy Mode.
The historical A6.5.9 release excludes these Ultra Series models:
- UL-707POE
- UL-707WP2
- UL-747POE
- UL-708POE
- UL-767DSS
- UL-767AES
For devices running early A Series releases, review historical incremental-update preparation before loading a package. Those A Series procedures do not establish a direct-to-L Series minimum.
Match a Historical A Series File to the Hardware
For a manual A Series update, select the firmware file intended for the exact device model.
Table scope: These filename identifiers are the historical A Series reference through A6.5.9-LTS.v3. They are not L Series file mappings. Use the AMP workflow for L Series systems.
2G Series Hardware
| Hardware Model | Filename Identifier |
|---|---|
| 208A | 2G_RX |
| 208POE | 2G_RX |
| 218A | 2G_RX |
| 218POE | 2G_RX |
| 218AVP | 2G_RX |
| 408A | 2G_TX |
| 408POE | 2G_TX |
| 418A | 2G_TX |
| 418POE | 2G_TX |
| 418AVP | 2G_TX |
| 428A | 2G_TX |
| 428POE | 2G_TX |

Omega Series Hardware
These models were previously identified as 2GΩ/3G hardware.
| Hardware Model | Filename Identifier |
|---|---|
| OM-505POE | 2G-3G_RX |
| OM-515POE | 2G-3G_RX |
| OM-705POE | 2G-3G_TX |
| OM-715POE | 2G-3G_TX |

Understand L Series Version Numbers
| Component | Meaning |
|---|---|
L |
L Series firmware intended for AMP 2G Legacy Mode. |
L1 |
Video compatibility generation. |
1.9.0 |
Version of the jpsw switching and configuration support. |
The first number identifies the video compatibility generation. All L1.x.y.z releases are video-compatible; changes in the final three numbers identify JPSW changes.
Download Firmware
Choose the download appropriate to the system:
A6.5.9-LTS.v3 was released on 2020-11-24. For that release's detailed changes, see its release record.
The A6.5.9-LTS.v3 website download will be delisted on January 1, 2027.
Update and Verify
Follow How to Update Firmware on a Device (2G Series and 2G Legacy Mode) for the correct AMP or A Series procedure. Complete the workflow, verify the version, and test switching, video, and audio.
JADConfig is limited to established systems and reaches End of Support on January 1, 2027. Review the End of Support notice when planning ongoing service.
Release History
Detailed changes, ST1 operating notes, the historical 2gmode.sh fix, and recorded known issues belong in 2G Legacy Mode Firmware Release History.
See A6.5.9-LTS.v3, A6.5.9-LTS.BF2, or A6.5.9-LTS.BF1 for release-specific details.
TP-Link Switching Fix
L1.1.9.1 includes the JPSW correction for matrix switching control with certain newer TP-Link switch firmware versions. This release is included with AMP 2.0.2. See the resolved issue and update guidance.
