Overview
2G Legacy Mode allows compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices to operate with 2G Series Encoders and Decoders.
AMP 2.0.0 or later supports these systems through its normal discovery, configuration, and firmware update workflows. On compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices, 2G Legacy Mode is an operating state applied by L Series firmware.
Configuration requirement: AMP 2G Legacy Mode is supported only in Standardized Configuration. It is not available in Alternate Configuration.
Device Capabilities in 2G Legacy Mode
A compatible Omega Series or Ultra Series device operating in 2G Legacy Mode functions within the capabilities of a 2G Series system, including a maximum video resolution of 1080p.
Advanced Omega Series and Ultra Series capabilities, including 4K support, video rotation, video scaling, and expanded audio formats, are unavailable in this state. Adding a compatible Omega Series or Ultra Series device does not provide those capabilities to a 2G Series system.
Hardware Compatibility
Omega Series and supported Ultra Series devices can operate in 2G Legacy Mode. Confirm that the model supports this mode before selecting it for a system containing 2G Series devices.
Incompatible Ultra Series Models
The following Ultra Series models do not support 2G Legacy Mode:
- UL-707POE
- UL-707WP2
- UL-747POE
- UL-708POE
- UL-767DSS
- UL-767AES
- UL-737POE
- UL-759A
Firmware and Operating State
The firmware installed on a compatible Omega Series or Ultra Series device determines its operating state.
| Firmware | Operating State |
|---|---|
| L Series | Applies 2G Legacy Mode and provides JPSW switching and configuration support for AMP. |
| B Series (justOS) | Provides normal Omega Series or Ultra Series operation. Does not support interoperability with 2G Series devices. |
For release details, video compatibility information, and the firmware download, see 2G Legacy Mode Firmware: L1.1.9.0.
Changing Operating States
To configure a system containing 2G Series devices, use the normal Build New workflow for Standardized Configuration in AMP 2.0.0 or later. AMP discovers the devices and applies L Series firmware to compatible Encoders and Decoders as part of system configuration.
When a compatible Omega Series or Ultra Series device transitions from Bx.y.z firmware to L Series firmware, the settings required for 2G Legacy Mode are applied automatically.
Returning a compatible device to normal Omega Series or Ultra Series operation requires the appropriate B Series firmware and configuration for the destination system.
Earlier A Series instructions: Procedures that use 2gmode.sh or 3gmode.sh apply to earlier A Series firmware. Devices running L Series firmware do not use these commands or a webUI setting to change their operating state.
